Mekong River in the morning

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Mekong River. Typical Fishing boats.

The life revolves around fishing and bit of gardening.

They have to figure out the season for gardening as flooding is part of life along the river. It also brings nutrients to the soil, as I had witnessed some of the best lettuce crop ever on the small plots.

The hotels along the river harvest the vegetables fresh, just in time for your dinner.

I found a photo on Panoramio from the same place in 2008. It had a little house on the river bank. It was gone 2011. As I was told, small shelters, bamboo bridges are build only for a season, as they are swept by high water during rainy season!
