Inverted Red Arrows, with the town of Helensburgh in the background, viewed from Crag's Top in Greenock. Taken at the recent display to mark the 40th anniversary of the QE2.

A fantastic shot, well done! My mum and dad actually went a cruise on the QE2 this summer.

They must have had a ball, as it a beautiful ship.

My Dad worked on her, after her launch & I was fortunate enough to spend a day with him at his work on board.

My Grandad was a finishing joiner on her as well. It was his last job before he retired... Who needs a gold watch!

I was also lucky enough to be at her launch.

So, I HAD to go to her 40th birthday.

Luckily, I chose the right spot, at Crag's Top in Greenock, to capture this shot.

Unfortunately, the good old days of the Clyde are gone.

You chose an fantastic spot! Thats amazing, my Dad was at her launch too, he used to work at Yarrows in the 70's, he didn't work on the QE2 though, quite an honour. This has a gret view of Helensburgh too, I'm only really familiar with the sea-front, I didn't know the town behind it was so beautiful.

I was only 5 at the time, but still remember it.

I think it was the size of her, when she was out the water, that triggered my memory.

Either that, or the fact the workers in John Browns shipyard kept feeding me sweeties all day.

It must have taken a week for me to get over the "sugar rush"!

Stuck another photo from the day on my page. QE2 & the Red Arrows

Cheers

To the person who pointed out that the marker was over Greenock, even though the caption says Helensburgh. Yes, you are correct, Helensburgh is on the other bank of the Clyde, but I have to refer you to Panoramio's home page. It says to put the marker where the photo was taken from... Not of where the view is. That's the reason it's at Crag Top in Greenock. Thanks for your suggestion anyway.
