The white horse looks slim. It must be very hungry.
Nice picture Ian. Did some woman took the prince from the white horse? Greetings Berend
That is one of the mearas, unless my eyes are cheated by some spell ! This cousin of the great Shadowfax looks slim, you are right Jeff.
Another possible title for this shot : 'Kingdom of freedom'.
Ian, you are a blessed guy to see, and capture with your camera, all those beauties of Mother Nature.
Best regards from France, Michael.
Hungry and thirsty, I'd agree. Tethering animals usually doesn't give them much opportunity to fatten. But he will go well on a Tongan banquetting table.. unless he bcomes Pegasus and flies away.
The Prince is slowly aging yet the beautiful woman still loves him - forever. I think they are "living happily ever after" - and so the white horse has a long wait!
Warm regards from Tonga,
For Michael and those who follow Tolkein, the mearas were a breed of wild horses in the north of Middle-earth. Their intelligence and strength were extraordinary. They surpass normal horses.
This one, patiently waiting, and unassuming in stance and stature has descended from Felaróf, who was tamed by the first King of Rohan. This steed came to this southern Kingdom during the reign of the fourth King, and was riden by its late King, who was a lover of horses. Now, only the Prince of the Kingdom may ride him.
Shadowfax will only allow him to be ridden at the end of the Fifth Age, but only the Prince of the Kingdom is eligible. Meanwhile this mearh and the Prince wait patiently.
Such a lovely and timely capture.
