While Sharing the Google Earth experience with an old friend I was surprised that there were no pictures of Brooklyn College. This venerable institution, which measures its contribution to society with graduates among the top tiers of corporate America, government and academia, deserves a blue dot on the Google Earth globe.
Obviously, I decided to add it, and like many of my Panoramio friends know, we cannot always pick the weather, so I hope some students, faculty and others add to this modest start.
Not an "out-of-town" school, BC suffered a lack of school spirit as virtually all of its students went home after classes; we called it an extension of high school, but for many, it was the only chance they would have at a higher education.
Personally I am proud to have gotten my chance there, and based on my visit yesterday, the college continues to represent the wonderfully diverse population of the borough.
If you've never heard of BC, here is a little about who they are: "Based on cost and financial aid, The Princeton Review in 2007 designated Brooklyn College one of the best overall values among the nation’s most academically outstanding colleges, and ranked us among their “Top Ten” in both 2005 and 2006..." Go Brooklyn!

Admirable. This is what Panoramio exists for. It's a shame that such a great institution did not have a blue dot up until now, but I really think it is a great start. By the way, you're in my favorites list; great collection.
Greetings from Florida! Andres

Greetings Hank, Thanks for the history lesson and bringing BC to light. At first I thought I was looking at a picture of Boston. Very nice.
Cheers,
Rich

Hi Rich. Thanks for visiting my Alma Mater, and for your expression of understanding. I've spoken to the Alumni Association and asked them to publicize Panoramio and help get BC on the map.
