© Aldo Larosa.

Ciao e ancora grazie, Aldo Larosa

Dearest Zio Aldo, today I discovered your great compilation of photos taken by you and some historic ones of our family, right now I feel very emotional and proud, it feels so surreal to see them posted on the internet. I admire your attention to detail and the pride and joy you must get from sharing these photos(for all the world to see!!) Photography has been one of my passions since I was 16 years old, it's just another reminder of how much we have in common. This is the first time I have seen this photo of my grandfather (your father) and every time I see one of him I feel very emotional, I know for you and my father it must have been very difficult and sad to grow up without him, I know for me there is a void in my life because I never met him....... I just want you to know you have a new fan of your photography and I encourage you to keep adding more photos to this already splendid compilation. With all my love (and also from Natasha) we send you, Teresa and Claudia our best wishes. Ciao, Natale

What exactly is the man doing here? Not looking for gold in Africa, I presume!

No, dear Maria. My father, unfortunately, was in that place to wash his clothes. He is been forced by the war that Italy has fought in Ethiopia. I do not want to tell you more because, from that experience, my father returned to Italy very sick, so that when I had just completed five years and him only forty-seven, died, leaving my mother with six children.

I do apologize for being the cause of your bringing back such terrible memories, Aldo :-( I really do apologize. However, your father seems to have been a person your worth remembering...
