Badminton House, home of the Beaufort family since the 17th century is grade 1 listed. It dates from the early 17th century with major alterations between c1730-1750. A House had stood on, or near, the site prior to the 17th century. Over the centuries it's played host to numerous members of the Royal family, including Queen Mary who stayed there during WW2 to get away from the London bliltz. The House has also been the location of many big screen movies, these include the 1993 film Remains of the Day with Anthony Hopkins & Emma Thompson, where many scenes were filmed inside. While on the lawn where the horse quietly grazes, once droned to the noise of Spitfires, it being a British Airfield in the 2001 WW2 film Pearl Harbor starring Ben Affleck & Kate Beckinsale.
