Kuterfaga:The "Horreo" or "Canastro" of Galicia ("Espigueiro" in northern Portugal) is a unique store to store ears of corn and, secondarily, chestnuts, walnuts ... The structure can be isolated from the top floor with pedestals ("pés") and a few stones in a horizontal position ("mesas") that prevent access by rodents to it. On the "tables" draws top box that can be wood, stone or mixed. The important thing is this kind of fences(“ripias”), whether wood or stone, allow air to circulate without the birds have access to the point. For this reason, the overall structure is long and narrow and the granary was situated in a well ventilated. You can see a special copy marking on Google "Horreo de Carnota" and a good set in "Espigueiros de Soajo”, also in “Horreos de Galicia”. Saludos.
