Most foreigners wouldn't have the faintest idea what that sign means, even if they did study English. We don't even call them that here in Australia.

Wouldn't mind calling them though, see if they do home delivery :-)

We also have fish and chips, not cod, but various other sorts including battered Flake. That's especially popular in Melbourne. Flake is shark meat. Why not, if it's in abundance :-)
