Greetings Sandro and Billy, I got lucky and had another beautiful sunrise before heading up the Longs Peak Trail. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Sandro - I was able to get to the trail head before the sun rose and got treated to the wonderful forms and colors to the east.

Billy - There are some pay offs to getting up early to be one of the first at the trail head. I was about the tenth car in the parking lot at 6:15 A.M. The colors last about 15 minutes and the effect is gone. The cloud cover then thickened and pretty much blotted out all the blue sky. The morning sunrise colors can be so vivid and striking.

Cheers,

Rich

The colors are amazing...and the cloud formations really add to the picture. Great shots!

Oh, we've had some fantastic sunsets over this past week, haven't we Rich?

Greetings Julie, Dann and Alex, Thanks for visiting the other photos in the sunrise series and your wonderful comments. Another case of right place at the right time.

Julie - There were wave clouds formed to the east and the straggler clouds were moving about below the wave clouds. Fortunately there was the gap on the horizon that let the sunrise shine up underneath the wave clouds and shine on the bottoms of the lower clouds. So many things had to be right for this sunrise.

Dann - there have been some great ones haven't there? We just have to get out and hope they happen for us. I know if I miss it, some one else is going to capture it so we all can enjoy. What a spectacle, eh?

Alex - I am glad you liked these shots. I was fortunate to be there, to have the right conditions, and to not have gone up the trail earlier. Wow.....fate. Thanks.

Thanks again to all for visiting. I am glad you enjoyed these shots of the sunrise. I was the only one at that location when the sun rose.

Cheers,

Rich

Hi Rich. I've seen strong colors like this at sunset, but rarely at first light in the morning. You were lucky to get to experience it, and thanks for sharing it with us.

Greetings Hank, Thanks for visiting the sunrise and commenting. Interesting observation about the colors of a sunrise compared to those of a sunset. Looking back, I believe you are right. The past month in Colorado has been a little bit reversed with a nice orange in the morning and then a blah gray evening. Kind of a weird weather pattern we are on. Glad you enjoyed the new pictures.

Cheers,

Rich

Wow, I just realized that this was a sunrise picture and not a sunset shot. Our nice westerlies have been providing us good wave clouds over the past week or so. Very nice when the sun angle comes from underneath and lights the from below. Unfortunately, this is all about to end. Do you like snow?

Dann.

Richard Ryer on November 19, 2007

Greetings Dann, Thanks for revisiting the sunrise and commenting. I don't get to see these types of sunrises to often so I feel really lucky when I do get to see one. The evening wave clouds here have been spectacular and my daughter, Mariko, has posted some on here page. I hope it does end soon and start dumping snow on us. It is much to dry and much to brown. The trail I hiked on Saturday should have been snow packed from the ranger station to the tree line, but there was none, very bad sign for this time of the year. The weatherman is again predicting snow for Tuesday and Wednesday, but we'll just have to wait to see what develops. I am ready for snow, and lots of it.

Cheers,

Rich

Models are looking good, Rich. I think after dark on Tuesday ... maybe early in the morning. Looks like a low will set up in SE CO or in the panhandles and drive a lot of moisture cyclonically into the mountains. We have a lot of heat involved and a lot of moisture to work with, so we could see decent snow. Keep your fingers crossed.

Greetings OB-, Thanks for visiting the sunrise and the yellow star. I am glad you liked the results. I was standing on picnic tables and jumping about to get my positions.

Well, Rich, I've been wrong my entire life. I figured I might as well choose a profession where you don't lose your job because of it ...

Greetings Dann, Sounds like you are selling yourself short. Don't do that! You are in very good company with the likes of Lawyers and Politicians ;-)

Cheers,

Rich

I wouldn't put myself in their company. They lie, I'm just always wrong. There's a difference ... ;)

Excellent point. I'll move weathermen two rungs up the food chain ladder. (:O)

Greetings Eve, Thanks for visiting the sunrise at Longs Peak and commenting. This fifteen minute period made my whole day. I almost went up the trail and missed it, but fortunately procrastinated and was treated to this display. What fun. Thanks again for the visit.

Cheers,

Rich
