Šeherćehaja bridge is located on the river Miljacka in historical center of Sarajevo. Šeherćehaja bridge is now a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first bridge was built during the Ottoman period, was probably built on the site of an older medieval river crossing. Little is known about the construction of the bridge. According to an inscription in the archives of the city of Mostar, a bridge might be built but 1585./1586. year. The name of the bridge leads to the interpretation that it has raised some Seher-ćehaja Sarajevo.According to some sources, the bridge was built in 1620 year.
