"When the lights go down in the city, And the sun shines on the bay, ooh I want to be there, In my city." (Journey - Lights)
"I love San Francisco, the bay and the whole thing. The Bay fit so nice. When the lights go down in the city and the sun shines on the bay.ya know. It was one of those early morning going across the bridge things when the sun was coming up and the lights were going down. It was perfect." - Steve Perry (Journey)
Maybe it's a bit corny to quote Steve Perry for this image. I am probably not the first to do so. But the song and a later interview, seem to best describe the mood invoked when watching the sun rise over San Francisco. I outside the city but did get the opportunity to work there for a number of years and to beat heavy traffic I always arrived in time to see the sunrise. Not the worst way to start a day, especially a work day.
This shot was taken just prior to the sun peaking over the distant Oakland Hills. Initially I had hoped for heavy waves of low fog with the tops of the bridge peaking though but as often happens the shot I hoped to make was far exceeded by the real thing. The constantly changing wisps of fog that floated in and around the bridge left the city visible and sparkling in the
early morning light of dawn.
I love your stuff and this one is definitely a favorite!
