Looking south, Shelikhovo was once a large fish processing area. In recent years, is was used as a Coast Guard station. Now abandoned by the Coast Guard, the village is leased by fisherman from the mainland to fish (net) a varity of Salmon swimming upstream to spawn. The fisherman stay as long as the weather or the fish holds out. The building in the foreground is the bath house (steam). Building in the far background was the bunkhouse use for the Coast Guardsman, and our luxgurious accomodations for five very long days. Road in background leads to the fishing port.
