Vaasa prison, built in the 1860's is located nicely on the water front in what today is central Vaasa. Wonder how they choose which inmates get an oceanview?

This is an "in use" prison or a museum ?

Yes, this prison is in use. It has 65 places but is - as most prisons in Finland today from what I hear - overcrowded (99 inmates in 2005 it says on the national Prison Service home page). Inmates are both men and women and most of them petty criminals or people held in custody awaiting trial.
