October 10th 2011! Coot with at least 2 chicks, Great Pool Himley.

My field Guide says two broods, March to June. Let us hope the weather stays warm for them to survive!

Even the poor birds dont know where they are with the weather. I found a woodpigeon hatchling on Friday!

Amazing to see that the Coot has chicks in October!!! Hopefully it won't get too cold and all the chicks can survive! Overhere, temperature is around 15C which is relatively warm for October! Best regards, Anne

Nice one Peter

I have seen them nesting but never seen the chicks at this age (or time of year).

It looks like you were trying for a panorama (or were you panning?).

Cheers - Jethro

For another late arrival...

A Mallard duck at the wildlife haven in London has hatched 11 ducklings...6 months later than usual...
