A pleasant mid-afternoon walk along London's South Bank brought a surprise- a locomotive-hauled train entering and later leaving Cannon Street station. Rare! Having earlier seen the Network Rail test train rumble into Cannon St,, I walked quickly to Southwark Bridge, just outside the Financial Times offices, to await the departure of 'EDs' 73138 (front) and 73107. A good half hour passed before being rewarded with this view, with the City's 'gherkin' tower and distant Canary Wharf adding the backdrop. While waiting the sun came and went, but luckily held- just as the NR test train departed on the next part of its journey around se London. Oct 6 2011

I work nearby and have seen it a few times including this occasion. Now I know its a test train. :-)
