Hi Leraine! Yes, we have a summer cottage in this area and I took this photo in 2006 when we suddenly started to see more and more of those cute little things. Well, they ate our apple trees and raspberries and flowers. But I have to admit that they ARE cute:))

It looks like there are more predators chasing them now. I have seen quite many eagle owls and foxes in Helsinki in the last two years... and they have to eat too!

Well, it's a normal food chain. More hares - more eaten apple trees :) But after all it's better with animals then without them at all. For me (the person who lives in a crowded city full of cars) it's a rare thing to see wild animals even such as hares and eagle-owls. I see squirrels sometimes in the parks but very few. On the contrary, there are more and more domestic homeless animals in my city who suffer from human heartlessness.
