Hi Paul, you have some seriously impressive structures, beautifully photographed in your gallery: this one is special.

Best Regards,

Sean.

Thanks Sean. I enjoy traveling and I especially enjoy coming back to the island I grew up on. There's so much to see and remember.

It's a treat to hear nice things about my pictures from the artists in the Panoramio community. Thanks for visiting.

Greetings from northern California,

Paul

No problem Paul: I can see the engineer's eye in a lot of your work and can understand the attraction. I have been involved with the construction industry (roads mainly) for most of my working life and really enjoy seeing things well designed and built.

Very best regards,

Sean.

I'm in roads too. I work in the Traffic Division of the Public Works Department in our County.

One of my tasks each year is to rate the condition of the road surface of 950+ miles of pavement and make recommendations on repairs, seals and overlays.

Small world Paul: my work is connected to the repair of public roads here. I would be very familiar with work similar to yours and the systems which record the defects and schedule the repairs.

I'd say you have the better of the weather though!!

Best regards,

Sean.

Sometimes when people ask why I moved to California, I tell them it rains 200 days a year in my home town (Sunderland); the rest of the time it snows!

I've also used the line about summer in Sunderland being usually about the third Thursday in July - in the morning!

We're finally starting to see a break in the gloom - I washed and waxed my BMW yesterday, and we have a forecast of 20C and sunny for today - more light rain expected by Wednesday, though.

Regards,

Paul

We've just gone to BST today and we are looking forward to the longer evenings and a bit more heat.

Apparently we've just had another instance of March being colder than February, the 9th time since the 50's: apparently it only happened once in the 50 years before that. So much for global warming being a recent phenomenon!

Anyway Paul take care out there on the roads and enjoy your week,

Sean.

It's been amazing watching Premier League on TV and seeing snow or driving rain messing with the hairdos of the expensive talent on the fields!

Glad we live where we do, even if we do get snow in the high elevations, and occasionally down here in the valley too. HERE'S how we handle it!

Hi Paul,

I have done a little snow clearing too. We used snow blowers and ploughs on the higher ground and treated the roads with rock salt gritters. No photos though, it was over twenty years ago!!

Great to see your gallery.

On the footy side, didn't the 'Black Cats' do well on Saturday: looks like they will stay up if they can hold it together.

Best Regards,

Sean.

Knaresborough is a very familiar area to me, I have walked along the riverside several times. A very beautiful area with the castle and 'Mother Shipton's Cave'!

Hi Paula. I agree with your sentiments - Knaresborough is one of many beautiful places in the UK. When I look through my pictures and see views like this one, it ALMOST makes me wonder why I moved away! (ALMOST).

Paul
