I only recently discovered HDR, still experimenting. (Would have loved to have known about it when I visited Zion.) Might I ask how many shots you used (and how many stops apart?)

For this particular HDR, I only used one shot, but I shot in RAW format, from which I separated out several exposures (-4 to +4 in steps of 1 in Adobe CS3), then recombined them in Photomatix and then tonemapped. I guess you could call it "pseudo-hdr".

Sometimes I shoot three exposures (-2, 0, +2) in RAW, using exposure bracketing in the camera, then separate each of those out in CS3, which allows me to get the equivalent of -6 to +6. I did that for the sunset shot at the south of Zion park. Check it out.
