I was very close, about 15 or 20 feet. I had my 24-70mm lens on at the time, so I was probably at or close to 70mm for this shot. I wonder if this guy was crazy or something was wrong with it to let me get so close, but it did finally have enough of me and took off like a shot. Others took off when I got to within about 100 feet, before I even noticed them.
I'm no expert, but I'm guessing this is a Jack Rabbit? I also saw what I think are called Desert Hares down in some washes. They are much smaller and fluffier.
