The Fair City of Perth is in the centre of Scotland in an area inhabited for the last 8000 years.

There is another city of the same name in Western Australia. This area is thought to have been inhabited for 40000 years and so can claim to be older than the Fair City. However, it has only been called Perth since 1829.
