Believe it or not but I've never been at this place. It is an island itself maybe cause of that.Anyway, thanks for pic.

Hi Resident 1. If you look at the map here or on Google earth, you will see that it is ALMOST its own island but not quite .. we went inside too .. creepy ..

We were told by our guide that it served as a prison, and indeed, when we went inside, there were chains on each of the tiny cell walls. The cells were located just below sea level as you can see:

and the barred windows along its base must have let the water in and created a hellish condition for prisoners whenever the Adriatic waters were churning ...

I didn't know that.I see on the photo now, it must be true, those sea leveled windows with bars on it tell it must have been a place for keeping certain people caved.I definitely need to google more. Shame that I have more informations about Alcatraz than for this place :) Unlike me, you apparently know more. Shame on me :) (bravo to you)

Yes, as if there is a small passage between that castle and neighbouring island. It is particularly visible during water retreat (ebb tide?). Yes it is always creepy when in castles. I may assume it was bult for the sake of protection just like that "chinese" wall in place Grebastica. These days just a barrier for entering big wessels. It requires a good pilot to manoeuvre the ship to get through that narrow channel.
