On this lonely island, 28 men of Shackleton's expedition stranded here on 14 april, 1916. Six men including Shackleton left on 25 april in a small boat to get help, and 22 men remained here from 14 april to 30 august 1916 (in wintertime) until a ship came to rescue them.
