This was one of those unexpected moments that makes me grateful I take photographs.
Having spent 5 days in the Eastern Sierra's I only got to shoot a few night shots two nights. I wanted to shoot the Milky Way but the full moon on prior night eliminated that option. On our last night camping at Brown's Town Campground in Bishop, CA decided to grab some star shots from my campsite. At first I just shot straight up and got some nice shots with the trees in the photos. Then I thought about moving behind our trailer and shooting over the Bishop Country Club's Golf Course. As I took the first photo I thought "Either that's the Milky Way or some of the left over clouds from earlier.
It ended up being the Milky Way. So I started taking a variety of shots. This one turned out to be one of my better ones and favorite.
This is a 21 second exposure at 17mm, f2.8 and iso1600. Minimal noise reduction and level adjustment in Photoshop. I hope you enjoy as this as I do!
