It's a beautiful shot; however, to keep things in order, it should be said that the name of the river is Guayas (no Green River); which is the confluence of the Daule and Babahoyo rivers and they kiss the banks where the city of Guayaquil, (seen here) was set. The green you see on it, are Wild Water Lilies which grow rapidly and are kept in the small outlets in land; they then are taken out by the water which in abundance comes in the rainy season bringing the lilies out until they get to the Ocean; with the tide, they go up and down the river to finally reach the Paciic. By the way the tall building seen in the background, has the label of being the tallest in the South Pacific.
