St Mary's Church

St Mary's Church, in Sawley, was a second-hand building erected in 1912 after it was loaned, and later gifted, to the area by the parish of Heanor. It is described as the last "tin-hut tabernacle" in the Diocese of Derby regularly used for worship. Members of the church are now raising funds to refurbish the church, re-mounting the church's bell is part of the refurbishment.
