Originating mainly in Mesopotamia, the Chaldean Catholic Christians in Damascus founded the Parish of Saint Theresa in 1895. It is located near Bab Touma in the Christian Quarter of Old Damascus. The current structure, though, only dates from 1941. The Chaldean community is about 25,000 strong in the whole of Syria.
