Is this the scan that you mentioned to DeEtte? If so, I'd say it was well worth doing. What brilliant color in the main rainbow!! And the composition is good, which is often not true of rainbow photos. Cheers, Marilyn
Thanks Marilyn! yes, this is the photo I meant. I've wanted to post it since I first joined Panoramio, but only just borrowed a scanner to try out, and DeEtte's photos reminded me of it to be the first scan. It was day of pouring rain doing the requisite visit down waterfall lane (it's very unfair that Oregon gets this whole amazing gorge of world-class waterfall after world-class waterfall, all in a row!) so it was a surprise when the sun started to peak through as we were returning to Portland, and our first thought was 'We've got to get back up to the overlook!!!' We were well rewarded! I think it even got to be a bit of a triple one, but that didn't photograph. What's most amazing about this site is that there's a fairly simple farm house right across from the overlook parking lot. They get to wake up and go to sleep every single day to this view! Cheers!
Thanks Josh! You've got to get to a rainier climate than where ever you're at, then! :-)
Given the climate in Oregon, and the fact that this is along the Tourist Trail (very deservedly so! This is an amazing alley of spectacular scenery with world-class waterfalls every few miles, that's a very easy day trip form Portland Oregon.) I've been very surprised no one else had posted a photo of a rainbow over the gorge, so figured it was time someone did!
I've even seen triple rainbows several times. They're jaw-dropping!
Very sweet :)
Thanks Volkan! My only scan so far. Cheers!
Gratulations for this shot! Usually I don't have the camera with me when I see rainbows ;-)
Thanks, Martin! I was lucky this day: I was being a tourist, so my camera was right at hand and well warmed up! Cheers!
Very colorful rainbow photo. Nice work. Must have been great phenomena to see that strong rainbow in naked eye. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much, MalasAr! This was about 10 years ago, so I don't remember it too clearly. (This is the only photo I've scanned and posted.) But I just came across the whole pack of shots I got of it, and they're all just as strong, if not more! This is a great scenic spot to start with (it's sort of one of the Oregon tourist board's standard images, the Columbia River Gorge.) So the timing with the rainbow felt like a gift from above! Thanks for visiting!
Çok teşekkür ederim R.C.! Selamlar :)
