It is a beautiful designed house in a great location. What a shame it has not been restored.

have you ever read the book "Night Calypso" by Lawrence Scott? :-) Fascinating... I feel like I can materialize the characters and the story from your picture. Thx!

Yes, nice house, I wonder why it has not been restored either. A wooden structure like that ought to be saved for the future and it's history.

Escuse me ignorance, but was this some kind of assylum. Why was a doctor an nurses living in this small island o key?

Chacachacare was a leprosy colony. It was abandoned when the cure for leprosy was found.

Is this a private house or is it owned by the gov't? Is it on the market? Who would knon?

Owen Morgan, on June 15, said:

Very good question clydet. It's not too far from Chaguaramas to be able to live there or use as a weekend residence if you have a fast motorboat, but security might be an issue for the times when you are away. Maybe open it as a hotel for guests who want peace and quiet? A little dock outside with a restaurant to serve visiting yachts? As it is now, there is not really anywhere outside of Chaguaramas for the many visiting yachts to go if they want access to services of any kind.
