Valley Fog At First Light
In The Southern Appalachian Mountains
My town, Franklin, NC is shrouded in this sea of mists, a thick valley fog. The sun has just peeped over these ancient mountains and sent its first rays skating across the uppermost layer of the fog cloud. Soon the cloud will rise and dissipate, giving way to a sun shiny October day.
These are some of the natural smoke-like misty clouds for which the Smokies were named.
