It would be great if someone were to add pictures of Steamer Lane during the winter of 1955/56, when 6ft and better curls were even inside. We could ride them from Steamer to the beach from about Feb. 1st until May. Mind you, we did so without wetsuits, with long boards. We also slept on the beach, normally down near the rivermouth. There was no fighting to get on a breaker, nor did we do it for other than the pure enjoyment of surfing, in the quiet nature of the times. The statue at the point reminds me of "Surfin Sam" who had a tandem board carrying a little cutie whose posterior made a perfect pillow for Sam's head. Those were the times. Paul Tietzen, Canada
