Oh, yes. I know him. I read about him. These ruins are in North Yorkshire. Earlier it was very beautiful building ... the XII-th century... it seems ...
For people like me who enjoy ruins, it is still a beautiful place. Attending a meeting in York, we had a free afternoon. I was giving a performance in the evening, and wanted to relax and get out of the city. We read about this in a guidebook and decided to go. It was an excellent decision--the place is wonderful!
Another wonderfully framed photo, Marilyn! I like looking through this arch at an angle, upward and to the side, to see the tower. And a perfect sky as well, captured between the different layers of stone. Very beautiful.
Thanks, Ryan. It was cloudy when we arrived and it started to rain as we left, but for a while there was glorious blue sky. So many pictures to take, so little time!
Greetings Marilyn, What a beautiful old ruin. It must be amazing to wander through the paths and corridors, if they allow. It would have been nice to see it in its prime.
Thanks, Rich. I have one other photo posted, besides a view of a lower section. There's another that I really like, except that the sky is too turquoise! I can do some photo editing, but I haven't yet found the magic to correct that without doing violence to the color of the abbey itself. Anyway, yes, you would love to wander around there--and you'd get some great photos, too!
Suas fotos são lindas!Os lugares são maravilhosos! O seu gosto por fotagrafar janelas é sensacional!! adorei!! Feliz Ano Novo!!!
Many thanks, Luzia! Greetings from Canada. Marilyn
Good-looking Building! Is there any pictures showing it from the front?
Thank you, Tharnton. It is a wonderful ruin! I have three other photos, and you can get a good idea clicking on the buttons above the map. But I think because of its complexity and its ruined condition, there is no simple "front" view.
