2 Abandoned House ?

pegase1972 on January 17, 2012

No the White house (on US side) is inhabited. Only the foreground one in Canada is abandonned.

this house will probably be demolished

Is it the angle of the photo or does the border line go through the abandoned house in the foreground. I t looks like a portion of the porch would sit on the border. Or does the border line not go in a straight line or at an angle?

A part of the house is really in USA as far as I can tell. It was common long ago when the border was open. In fact, this road use to go into the USA.

I was there earlier this week. The abandoned home has/had a US mailbox on the east side of the road but on the US side. I agree that part of the house (maybe 1/3) is in the US. The border cairn can be walked around completely by somebody approaching from QC but from the NY side the fence gets in the way. Technically, that thin sliver of land (maybe 2 m wide) of NY is not accessible from NY.
