Green and Gold

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

I must admit to liking this shot! The subtle greens and gold of autumn are all captured here..I particularly enjoyed capturing the sheen of green light on the moss..The perspective along the bridge particularly caught my attention and is well depicted in the shot..Vehicles still ford this river at regular intervals..It pays not to stand too close to the river at this point! Another pleasing feature in the shot is the last bastion of Britishness in the markings of the Height Gauges..I still think "imperially", despite the national trend to metrication.

My lovable little terrier got into the shot and can just be seen at the first step :)

Excellent picture, Jim. These leaves seem to say "We're not on the trees but we're still beautiful. We've fallen right here on the path so you'll see us." Very accommodating. Very good composition with the view straight on to the bridge and the creek showing to one side. Like. ~Guy

Geezer Vz~~~Your thoughtful observations shine through here Guy..I'm delighted that this image conveys those impressions...many thanks!

cjlin~~~~Except for the gurgling sound of running water, the silence was deafening :))

other1f~~~~Hello _Elena :)~~~My eyes were drawn to the ultra velvet green of the mould, growing on the hand-rail..this gorgeous colour was repeated right across the bridge...Details such as this, for me, really make a photo! Thanks for your appreciation!

Samantha Lacy ღ~~~~how lovely to see your name pop up here Sam, a visit from you is a bonus! Many thanks for your lovely comment!

top spotter~~~~~The 100 year old bridge is extraordinarily high at this point of the river! My guess is to reduce the risk of logjams during periods of high flood-water. The ford to the right of the bridge is a notorious trap for unwary drivers, a few have been swept away over the years, but thankfully, no fatalities.

G Kesmev~~~I'm thankful for your kind review Joro :)

mabel65/Marlene~~~~This is the beautiful Esk valley Marlene, a popular tourist attraction and loved by locals and visitors alike..It is rich in fauna and flora..and this little river is the habitat and birth place for many thousands of wild Atlantic salmon. I believe that the Esk is the only salmon river on the Yorkshire coast..That is remarkable since Yorkshire is England's largest county! Atlantic salmon differ from many other species since they return to the ocean after spawning. This process may happen many times in a salmons life!

Linrich~~~I'm thankful for your kind appraisal Linrich :)

G. Romanini~~~Wow!! I'm flattered..that's a fine compliment on my photo!

Samad Talebpour~~~~It was a lucky find Samad..the bridge could easily be overlooked..I'm glad you liked the photo!

Leo Roundtree~~~Thanks Leo :) I welcome and respect your kind review.

Neil Grimwood~~~~I instinctively recognised the possibilities here Neil..taking the shot was easy and I'm really pleased with the picture quality from this Canon EOS 400D.

volnat~~~~Thanks for your kind remarks Volnat :)

_ To you all, I express my sincere gratitude for your visits, precious comments, your endorsements, likes, especially the Y*'s and for taking the time to look!_

Kind regards :)

What marvelous light in this falls in to highlight the leaves and light up the moss covered railings and in general lights up the entire scene! YSL!

I am touring by slide show and saw others I liked but had to run over right away for this beauty!

Back again after rereading your comments closer. I saw the road to the right but did not realize it was a ford....did not see an egress point. It must be between the high water ruler and the bush on the far side????

ssiatravani~~~~A warm welcome to you :) I had many options here in this locale', but this bridge caught my eye! Glad you enjoyed it, thanks!

Feika~~~~That's a big compliment on my photo Feika..I'm flattered, thanks for your kind review!

joyfotos~~~I greet you warmly Joy :)---It is always a pleasure to receive your thoughtful comments..The light can be explained in my comments to ALLWO below :) My lens was not quite wide enough to capture both ends of the ford, besides, the approach roads enter the river at an acute angle..

ALLWO~~~~Hello my friend, I really appreciate your meaningful review..and your observations are entirely correct..The image is lacking in light.

I have a tendency to under expose my photos, I suppose it helps to illiminate washed out looking skies...My PS skills are not good, no more is my failing eyesight. However, in this photo, the light you see here is quite natural and truthfully portrays the actual scene. If you check out the google map closely, you will observe a massive tree overlooking the river. It was from under the still leafy canopy that this photo was taken..Hence the gentle tones and subtle light!

To you all, I express my warm and sincere thanks for your friendly visits and precious comment
