Saltburn Victorian Cliff Lift

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

This Cliff lift replace the earlier lift which was constructed along with the pier around 1867 but demolished in 1883. The new "Inclined Tramway" as once known was opened in June 1884, the 55 second journey can take upto 12 people seated in each tram. 1000 gallon water tanks displace water as the trams move up and down the track, this is the oldest water ballanced clif lift still in operation.
