Actually, this cemetery is ACROSS the border. It spans both countries as seen by the clearing.
Interesting photos of this spot and the other nearby border shots. You didn't happen to take any photos just to the east on Richford Slide Road where the border crosses the road and it looks like some homes are physically located in Canada but their only access is via the US road.
Once I noticed the clearing indicating the border, I stopped. This road crosses into Canada, and then curves back down into the USA fairly quickly, however I was not aware of this and it appeared I was crossing into Canada, so I stopped at the cemetery and looked around a bit, then back tracked back down the same road. I did not realize until later that the road curves back down into the US immediately and that people routinely drive this road. This was very odd, as I am more familiar with a Southern border style system where this is impossible.
If you want to see an interesting border situation head further west near Massena, NY. There is a community called Hogansburg, NY and if you head north from there you get to St. Regis, QC....when ou are in St. Regis, the only way in and out is through the US. The border goes through properties and I believe houses. Lots of smuggling goes on.
Thanks for the suggestion. Likely be some time before I make it back to that part of the country again though.
