Autumn in Yorkshire

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

The old railway bridge is approximately 100M in length and carries both steam and diesel trains several times a day. The deck is in a poor state of repair and badly corroded..The pedestrian pathway has rusted right through and access is prohibited..That's a pity since it would be a good vantage point. Capturing this wintry scene was something of an achievement for me since the light conditions were not conducive to recording the foreground detail. This lovely old railway station is just to right of the picture and out of shot

Sundown is a real good object for making pictures but it takes a good skill (and patience!) to get it right! As seen above!

Greetings, Ed

It is most rewarding to receive so many encouraging comments and positive reviews for it is such feedback from which I derive much pleasure and inspiration :)

Ueliton Sloma~~~I'm especially grateful for the Y* + L..Thanks for your precious compliment :)

Puna~~~This shot is possibly one of the most difficult I have taken Anand. I'm not familiar with this camera having just bought it..I had no tripod and the light was difficult to control..but I wanted to capture the ambience and lighting without washing out the sky.

ORLANDO/42~~~A warm welcome Orlando :)~~~~thanks kindly for your nice compliment !

mabel65/Marlene~~~I'm glad you liked this one Marlene~~~It was the reflected glow of the sunlight which attracted my attention :)

Landry Lachèvre~~~Je vous salue chaleureusement Landry :) et Merci beaucoup pour vos compliments généreux!

sonjamar~~~~I'm most grateful for your lovely comment Sonja :)

top spotter~~~Thanks for the valuable feedback Alan :) Your constructive comments are much appreciated and welcome..I was not able to accommodate the entire length of the bridge (it goes on forever) with the kit lens supplied with the camera. Due to the construction of the road bridge immediately in front of me (out of view) it was not possible to have used my tripod successfully for taking overlapping shots..I might revisit this scene sometime in the future with a much wider lens and my Pentax!

olafju~~~~Hello Olaf :) I'm delighted you enjoyed this one! Your lovely comment is much appreciated!

Sababoy~~~~I greet you warmly Sababoy :)) Your fine compliment is graciously received :)

PIT58~~~Many thanks for the feedback Peter ;.) I will be sure to return to your gallery to view your latest photos from Athens!

Itallica~~~~~I'm thankful for your good comment Itallica :)

moorteufel~~~~~Well that's a much appreciated comment Moorteufel :) I'm glad the image conveys that atmosphere!

Wil en Ed~~~~I'm flattered by your generous praise Ed-----I agree, sundown photos are commonplace but not always easy to achieve...I tried hard to capture some foreground details without washing out the sky with too much exposure!

İ.Yaşartekin~~~A warm welcome İSMAİL~~~~~I'm glad you stopped by..I enjoyed your nice comment, thanks!

Samantha Lacy ღ~~~After my breathless hug from that big squeeze I'll take a break, and in return, say how much I love you to visit Sam :)) The hug is returned with a kiss!

Michael 安路~~~It is a pleasure to receive your visit and kind review Michael :)~~~Your gallery is next on my "to do list"

To you all, I express my sincere gratitude for your visits, precious comments, your endorsements, likes, especially the Y*'s and for taking the time to look!

Kind regards :)

Jim

Impressive sky and I like the light from the windows. Must be a beautiful train ride! Must be viewed large...Like it very much.

Best wishes, Rosa.

ian1949 on November 24, 2011

I was just thinking what Rosa said about the light on the windows it looks good, is the seagull on the bridge waiting for a train?

♦Rosa♦~~~~~Two train companies are operating on this line Rosa, Ariva run diesel units to Middlesbrough along the picturesque Esk Valley! It takes about one and a half hours..The same journey by car is around 50 minutes.. The other train operator is the NYMR which runs steam and classic diesels to Pickering!

ian1949~~~Funny that Ian, I had not noticed the Gully!

♥Alê Silveira ♥~~~Your visit and kind appraisal is much appreciated Alê :)

Graham Hobbs~~~~Taking of the photo was a bit of a challenge Graham, numerous attempts were made in manual mode..looking at the exif, the readings are very ordinary..but that's part of the enjoyment..Your kind remarks are much appreciated..It was good to hear from you!

To you all, I express my warm and sincere thanks for your friendly visits and precious comment

Jim
