This statue is a zinc statue depicting the cosmonaut standing on top of a globe wearing a spacesuit. It was unveiled on 14.7.2011 and rests in the Mall close to Admiralty Arch. The statue was a gift to the British Council from the Russian space agency Roscosmos to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first manned space flight, Gagarin being the first human to journey into outer space.
