Info about the statue
Volkan- It's funny you post this. As it even admits in the link, there was a HUGE uproar by some over the installation of this statue, which I do think was pretty funny itself, given how Salem really hams up the whole Witch connection for tourism. The most amusing thing: the actual location of the witch trials wasn't even in what is now know as 'Salem'. That area is now the city of Danvers.
Bruce 'Yank in Dixie' actually has a family connection to the witch trails, which he describes in this photo.
And if you ever get back there during the day, The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, which started out as collections of the East Indian trade and the whaling trade, is one of the most interesting museums around.
Well Kamaly, I was so glad to find out that after taking this picture and looking at it at the hotel room, I noticed it was the Samantha the star of one of my favorite sitcom from my childhood. Prior to seeing the picture on large screen I thought that it was a mermaid kind of statute as the one in Denmark
Thanks for the advice, If you could, please post a picture of it so I'll know it's location just in case ;)
ha-ha Volkan, I can't help you with this one. I think I've driven by it, but never stopped. It sure looks like you've picked the right location, though. What surprises me the most: The fact that it seems you're the first to post a photo of it!!! That seems like a natural to have everyone pose with it and post their photo. (Perhaps you should have done your self-portrait here!)
Actually, looking around the Salem shots, it seems there's a lot of really interesting stuff that isn't photographed here. I'll have to schedule a week-end trip!
kamaly, I guess this could be Samantha's first night shot also. I have a few more shots from Salem coming. So you can plan your trip accordingly :D The last shot I posted from MIT remind me the shot that I wanted to post for long time and finally here it is. Cheers, Volkan
