RAVENSCAR---the North Westerly Aspect

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

I guess we all have favourite photos depicting a time and place that sticks in our memories, well, this is one of my personal favourites and possibly one my best shots...The skies were heavy and rain laden. The gusting wind, off the land, was blowing a gale, and the temperature at this altitude was plummeting. I made a hurried dash for cover..Seconds later, the heavens opened and this view was completely obscured by low cloud! Another Nikon Coolpix classic!

Well guys, if you want more rain, here's a tip for you!!

The old American native Indians knew how to make it rain..So here's what to do..Gather into a big mound all those autumn leaves, add a few dry twigs to start the fire going, take one discarded blanket, swig a few bottles of hooch put on your dancing shoes, invite the neighbours round, tell them to bring a few eats (spit roast wild hog will do) clear a path round the clothes post(totem pole).

Now light the fire, since all the neighbours are expecting a little warmth, consume a little of the liquor, construct your roasting spit, inserting the pole through the hog where the sun don't shine..(No need to copy Freddy Stars example here!) Consume a little more of the liquor and start chanting repeated unintelligible lyrics to the tune of "Singin in the rain", at the same time, jogging, hopping around the clothes post in a circular motion..It helps if everyone is going the same way..Quaff a little more of the liquor, permitting yourself and others to lose a little more self control..Eventually, after consuming all the liquor and the hog and now that you and the other participants are reeling uncontrollably from the effects of the booze, and gyrating round the clothes post, I will guarantee that you wont care whether it rains or not! BTW, the blanket was not necessary.

Amazing landscape! I liked.

~Marlene~ on November 27, 2011

That's quite the formula for rainmaking, Jim... and to think you could just wash your car, which wouldn't be near as much fun! A YSL for yet another spectacular landscape and the joy I received from your storytelling!

Warm regards, Marlene

Tú me llevastes: En ti florece esta mirada, de mar, de profunda dulzura, de tierra, secretos derrotados, de cielo, amor salvaje. Florece en tú mirada. Gracias. AXOTA

mabel65/Marlene~~~I en joy telling tall stories Marlene..the fertile mind of a lunatic! so I am told :) your appreciation means a lot to me, especially the Y* :)

G. Romanini~~~I thank you for your appreciation and numerous visits Gilvan :)

mbe21~~~Thanks Mick, I'm glad you approve :) What really surprised me about this image is that it was taken with my oldest camera, the very able little Nikon..Literally point and press...this is one of the best shots I have managed so far with it..It manages to produce sharper images than both my SLR's despite having some nice glass to put in them!

Sababoy~~~~As always, it's a pleasure to receive your review and visit Sababoy I am inspired by your nice comment!

Alireza Javaheri~~~Greetings once again A-J :)) In reading your kind appraisal I'm happy you like this photo, This landscape is enjoyed by many thousands of tourists too :)

dektol~~~Thank you for your thoughtful observations, the colours portray the impending storm..within a few minutes, this view was hidden under a huge shroud of thick fog which had drifted off the sea!

To you all, I express my sincere gratitude for your visits, precious comments, your endorsements, likes, especially the Y*'s and for taking the time to look!

Kind regards :)
