RAVENSCAR---the North Westerly Aspect

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

I guess we all have favourite photos depicting a time and place that sticks in our memories, well, this is one of my personal favourites and possibly one my best shots...The skies were heavy and rain laden. The gusting wind, off the land, was blowing a gale, and the temperature at this altitude was plummeting. I made a hurried dash for cover..Seconds later, the heavens opened and this view was completely obscured by low cloud! Another Nikon Coolpix classic!

Nice shot Jim

Well it will not be raining here the weekend a very hot 37c and not even February yet..

Have not got a good shot of the Endeavour as yet I must look at Steve's site see if he put one up...Cheers Marion

Blue Arrow ®~~~I'm happy you enjoyed the view, and grateful for your lovely comment :)

cindy555~~~I'm delighted you stopped by Marion :) The lovely comment is much appreciated!

Well I hope your summer does not turn to drought like it did last year..Heat is fine for a few days Marion, but I soon yearn for fresh breezes and moist cool air..37C would flatten me for hours! No! I'm happy at a moderate 25C..that's hot for the UK!

I had a look for the "Bark" last time I stopped by your gallery...it's whereabouts is of much interest to me and the township of Whitby in general..We loved it when the Endeavour replica first entered the port, way back in 1997.

Cooks last voyage was in the original Endeavour which was built here in our local ship yards, sometime in the mid 1700's! It never returned to Whitby, I believe it was wrecked somewhere in the southern hemisphere due mainly to neglect...That is why the locals turned out in their hundreds of thousands to welcome the new Endeavour home :))

To you both, I express my warm and sincere thanks for your friendly visits, likes and precious comment

This is superb with the soft colors, the dramatic sky and the wonderful light which gives beautiful green tones and shadows on the Ocean. A fabulous place I dream to visit one day, like 20. Have a nice evening, Geneviève

Genevieve M~~~I almost felt the sky compressing me as the storm approached..I could not leave the scene such was the awesome colour of the sea and sky. A decision I would later come to regret..Having taken a few frames, the droplets falling on the lens very quickly became a deluge and I got a good soaking..the camera was saved!

Akbar&Armaghan Nouri~~~I greet you both warmly and thank you for your appreciation :))

To you all, I express my warm and sincere thanks for your friendly visits, likes and precious comment

There's no need to do a rain dance right now Jim, although the roast hog and the beverages sound like a good idea;-)) Your little camera has produced a good image,a nice reminder of Summer despite the storm.

Regards as always...Neil.

Did you get wet, Jim?

If it can be of any comfort to you, I can tell that not all the rain was falling on your side of the pond. We had our share too.

Good picture and a magnificent view!

Thanks for sharing.

Hi guys! a few moments after taking this shot, a strong sea breeze blew in the fog and obliterated all the nice views! I really enjoyed reading your lovely comments :)
