State Route 29 (John Fitch Highway) improvement can be seen to the left in the frame. This project involved suspending or propping the highway up over the very riverbank to provide expedient access to central Trenton, the then-new Waterfront Park ballfield and business center, and points north (US Route 1 and I-95). The community of Morrisville, PA, across the river complained that the narrowing of the Delaware would cause greater flooding in that already wet area.
