Three years later, still derelict. Ballachulish.

Good picture of an interesting 'building'. Good project for one of the renovation shows. Regards Derek

Glad you like, Derek. I'm very surprised (and sad) this cottage is in such a state. Overlooking beautiful Loch Leven I would have thought some property developer would have snapped it up by now.

Best wishes, Brian.

Brian, what can I say, the wife isn't house proud:) The sad fact is you see a lot of these cottages in Scotland going the same way. L

brian gillman on December 15, 2011

Hello, Mark. Thanks, and it is sad. This cottage is in an ideal spot.

Best wishes, Brian.

Even the Lighting is perfect for this shot, Brian. like 3. When I worked up there the railway from Connel ended about here and these buildings where part of the large Ballachulish slate quarry. If they can be got from the local authority? there is a good wee pile of cash to be had here, Every slate you see on that roof is worth about £2, An English business man bought a derelict Kirk for a fiver from the local Council on the Isle of Bute, on the understanding that he would convert it to housing. It now stands roofless! it only took him a few weeks to remove the slates and speedily depart. LOL cheers scally.

Hiya, Scally. Blimey! Are tiles worth that much! Roof must be worth a lot. Ironic, considering it's next to a slate quarry!

Best wishes, Brian.

and thats the last time you book with that holiday lets company

brian gillman on February 11, 2012

I like your sense of humour, Muba! Actually though, I wouldn't mind dumping my gear here for rental of, say, £20.00pw. Sublime views over Loch Leven.

Best wishes, Brian.

nice urbanic view, a little bit like houses in "Roma"-Romania.

cheers, Dietmar

brian gillman on March 11, 2012

Not exactly the sort of photo the Scottish Tourist Board is looking for. I hope the houses are a bit tidier than this in Romania, Dietmar! Pleased to meet you! Glad you like.

Best wishes, Brian.

At least someone moved the blue bin.

brian gillman on May 9, 2012

.....and the caravan has gone. What worries me is that roof. Looks like a huge boulder bounced off it! Good to hear from you again, Keepclicking.

Best wishes, Brian.

Jim Evans (AXOTA) on December 27, 2012

Since there are no tiles littered on the ground below the damage, I reckon that the roof has simply collapsed inwards when the rotted rafters gave way :)

You are almost obliged to return someday Brian simply to satisfy yourself.. and our curiosity :)

The plot appears to be thickening!

brian gillman on December 27, 2012

Hello again, Jim. I was here again last year, summer 2012. No change. A pity. I will be here again this summer and hopefully things will have changed for the better.

Best wishes, Brian.
