Den Freunden der Natur und Kunst (Friends of Nature and Art)

Inscription in stone above the entrance of the tempel. See detail in picture.

"It is now infinitely beautiful here. I was very moved last night as we strolled through the lakes, canals and woods by how the gods have allowed the Prince to create a dream around himself. When one passes trough like this, it is as if one is being told a fairy-tale, one enjoys in full the character of the Elysian Fields in its most tender variety, one thing flows [into] another, no height draws the eye nor one's desire to a single point, one goes about without asking whence one came and wither one is going. The bushes are in their most beautiful youth, and the entire effect is of the purest loveliness."

Letter by: Johann W Goethe to Charlotte von Stein, Wörlitz, Thursday 14 Mai 1778

Thanks Nadia and Goethe was right in his time. Nowadays the bushes have become impressive, monumental trees the fairy-tale lives on like a never ending story. THX for your Like

Ook binnen in die tempel was het erg mooi maar de foto's van het interieur waren naar mijn mening niet mooi genoeg om hier te plaatsen.
