Hi Tom; I'm back. I just had a bunch of slides scanned. This one came out very well. It's got a lot of depth, and good detail. Have yuo thuoght of tagging it "scan" or "scanned?"
Hank

Welcome back Hank. Thanks for the comments. I have taken your suggestion and tagged it with "scanned". I do have more of this trip to Ireland, and others, so I'm sure I will be needing it again. Regards, Tom

A beautiful shot, Tom, and very successful scanning. As one who's planning to start tackling my stash of Kodachrome, etc., in January, I'm interested: is this the result of a single scan? with photoshop afterwards? or more than one scan, with HDR treatment afterwards?
As I said, it's lovely. Marilyn

Thank you for the kind words Marilyn. This is a single scan by a service I found online. Not sure what type of scanner he used but they came back to me at 4000 PPI and 62 megabytes. Plenty to pull in the fine grain of Kodachrome. I use Nikon Capture NX to process my RAW files(they are tif files) then some Photoshop to clean up the inevitable dust that shows up on 25 year old slides regardless of cleaning. Let me know if you need any further assistance and thanks again for the compliment. Tom

A very Happy New Year Tom. Thanks for your comments. Your shot is from the Gortmore viewpoint on the Bishops road between Limavady and Downhill - it's a breathtaking part of this little country! I have some similar snaps but never got lucky with the weather. I must go back some day.
All the best for 2008
John

Cheers John. I wasn't sure I had located it exactly where I'd taken it. Pretty close? The weather really cooperated the final week I was there in the spring. After two weeks of overcast and rainy weather, I was pretty "scunnered"(spelling?). The wait was worth it.
Regards for 2008,
Tom

Lovely shot Tom. I know this place but haven't 'hiked' it yet. It is lovely, and a place a lot of people never mention. Kind regards

Thanks Martin. I was out "motoring" around the countryside on my own when I came upon this scene. A truly beautiful country you live in. Maybe someday I can get back...
Best regards, Tom
