For all too many of us I guess THIS is exactly the epitome of paradise dear Ian ~ thank you for sharing this with all of us.

Dear Berend and Maja,

All I can say is that "both of you were with me" as I walked this beach, slept in the hammock, paddled the surf ski between the reefs and islands, mingled with the locals, and explored the far side of the island where no one lives.

So I am pleased that you have had time to see the images and appreciate them. Thanks indeed for your fellowship.

Fantastic picture, Ian, so neatly balanced and a nice sense of distance, all looking so inviting, especially to someone in a very cold climate. Happy Christmas! Theolfa

Dear Theolfa,

Your artist's appraisal is always valued, and your vicarious enjoyment of the environment is also special. It seems to me that Canadians have a special way of celebrating their winters whilst in other places similar or even lesser winters are endured.

So I trust your winter is very warm inside, the fellowship of family and friends a delight.

And should you ever decide to venture to this side of the Pacific, you'll have a ready travel consultant as your advisor. There are many coconuts, much emerald water, and abundant means whereby it can all be experienced.

Happy Christmas. Happy New Year.

Ian

What a wonderful place, Ian! Looks like paradise to me with the sandy beach and blue water! I really like this photo! Best regards, Anne

It is paradise, most of the time, Anne. Being out in the mid Pacific, far away from the continents, the climate is so benign, almost perfect. I love the 23C max day after day after day!

It gets a bit rough when a tropical cyclone wanders through, and every few years one will do damage to homes, then it is anything but paradise.

We enjoyed our years of association with Tonga and other parts of the Pacific. Corals, whales, blow holes, caves, beaches and sheltered lagoons all contribute to a beautiful environment.

Warm regards form Brisbane,

Ian
