Hi Graham Hobbs
Could not resist the damaging effects of time!
new year wishes most sincere congratulations. Greetings from Husamettin .
great shot this also. The threatening sky fits well on the deserted wreck, the sun is, however, casting some hope on the wreck and the swan.
Have you on purpose created this grainy look? It seems to fit on the subject, though.
Best wishes, Timo
Wow, now that is some spectacular light!!! (the swan doesn't look too broken, though;)
Lovely light in this shot Graham..I like the way it is concentrated on the wreckage!
many thanks Husamettin - I think there is an elegance in this sort of decay, like old bildings
many thanks to yo also Timo - I did rough the image up a little - I always feel that the photographer's job is to convey what it felt like to be there, not just produce a 'straight' image - I don't know why people think that the image that comes off the camera is accurate anyway - cameras never did see things the way eyes or brains do.
I should be careful here Kamalyn as you are clearly keenly aware of the ambiguities of the English language, but I'm not going to be - it's so great to hear from old Pano friends - so many have fallen by the wayside over the years - I miss them, but always especially appreciate hearing from people such as yourself.
thanks to yo also Jim - it's actually a great time of year, as you of course know, having early and late raking light all day (when the sun's shining, at least ;))
very warmest seasonal wishes to all
I agree with you, straight from camera is not necessarily better than one that has been edited. And certainly I don't see processing or "photoshoping" as a bad thing. On the other hand it is not necessary to apply heavy editing to all pictures. E.g. some HDR pictures look really terrible in my eyes.
thanks again Timo - I have to confess that I look on some of my earlier attempts at hdr with a certain amount of embarrassment - I still like it for some urban scenes where I'm not going for too much realism and the contrasts ate extreme, but I'm beginning to feel that any landscape that can't be better processed another way probably is not good enough in the first place.
Very nice shot ！！！ Like
Happy new year 2012 ！！！

beautiful image Graham! LIKE! Saludos, diego
Big LIKE :) Greetings, Přemysl
Great photo Graham, but somewhat sad! I have just returned from a very long journey by car to Epupa Falls in north western Namibia (Kaokoland), Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Botswana! 8760 kms! Greetings! Johan
A wonderful photo well composed. Greetings from Athens.
Looking for small picturesque boats in a scene like this, I 'met' this one, maybe even more nice (ok, to me!;) than the one I invited you for. Busy with this Small Boat group only one week, I notice that sometimes persons try to upload more than one a day; until now in good harmony they removed them theirself! To be honest, I didn't expect such an image, this light captured as photo in the UK! A real *L+F
Have a nice weekend! peter
