On Lake Michigan, in late November icy winds

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Warren Dunes State Park.

Deserted Lake Michigan shoreline on a cold November morning.

Wonderful beach (but not exactly inviting to swim in late November!) Big dunes, dune formation rises 240 feet above the lake and offers spectacular views! Local businessman, Edward K. Warren, who purchased the site with the sole intention of preserving the fragile environment.

By 1930, the Warren Dunes area had been taken over as a state park.

Much more interesting and beautiful beach photo than all those warm, cheerful ones that people take on beach holidays! Well done, Tom.

Cheers, Marilyn

Hi Tomros, I like123 this beautiful photo, I find it pretty good. I have been traveling Canada last august and I have a traffic light pic from Toronto in my Panoramio page. Enjoy.

. . . six degrees of separation comes to P--; back in 2010 at the end of a long, long day's drive on a road trip with one of my sons, we wound up in Sawyer for the night. And I Like124 this photo on its merits too. It is a fine beach scene in a place where I (being used to the east coast beaches) never expected to see one. Mark

I was there really early morning, did not sleep that night, just drove.

It is probably busy on summer weekend....

mg1744 on September 24, 2012

We had driven from Mt. Rushmore the previous evening, so all we did was have a decent meal (It was a Cubs bar as I recall.); drive down to the beach for a quick; and, then sleep.
