This very fine Elizabethan building stands rather forlornly in a field alongside the road S.E of Tixall in Staffordshire. It is a splendidly oversized 16th century gatehouse of the former Tixhall Hall which was demolished in 1927.Dating to 1580 the three storey gatehouse with balustraded facade, is a Grade 1 listed building The building has been restored by the Landmark Trust and is now in use as holiday accomodation.
