This has been wrongly labelled as the Blair Tower. It is actually the Barr Castle, situated in the town of Galston, East Ayrshire. The Barr Castle or Lockharts Tower has no exact date of being built, but dates back to the 15th century.
The Lockharts were great supporters of the reformation, and in the year 1545 George Wishart often preached in the Barr Castle. He was later burned at the Stake for his beliefs. The great John Knox in 1556 owes much of his success to the Lockharts of barr. Knox preached over a period of three years in the Barr.
