I tried taking some shots that were angled toward the setting sun last week about the same time of day, and they didn't turn out nearly as nice as this! The water flowing into the punchbowl came out very cool too.
Ken Did you use a filter in front of the lens? This one does have a fair amount of lens flare that was minimized by bringing the contrast up in PP.
I shot another picture more towards the south with the sun in it that did not come out very good. Thanks for the comments --- Ken
Stunning shot Ken
I enjoy taking into the sun and I like to use high f numbers 22+ for the great star burst effects.
I will also use my polarizer, usually coz I forget its on!
All the very best to y'all - Jethro
Thanks for the comments Jethro, I think I used my CP on this but cant be sure. I'll try to remember the f22 trick next time. Thanks again --- Ken
I'm pretty ignorant about filters. I stuck a UV filter on my old kit lens when I bought it a couple of decades ago, mostly to protect the lens, and I don't think it has been removed since! My Canon G10, which I end up using most of the time, has no filter. Not too surprising, then, that my photos were awash with lens flare.
Ken UV filters don't have to be all that bad, if you could see your reflection in it then it's probably not the best to use while facing the sun. I had a pretty good one that probably saved my lens but was killed in the process.
Best wishes for 2012 Ken - Top shooting there too.
Luogo incredibile. Eccellente foto.LIKE
Nice of you to visit again RGC52 thank you for the comments. Cheers --- Ken!
